Parental involvement in their child’s education is not a constant that is seen across families. Instead, parental involvement has been known to vary greatly in different families. Factors such as student independence, school outreach programs and parental beliefs regarding education have all been found to influence parental involvement. These factors can greatly affect the social and academic success of children and therefore are of the utmost importance when focusing on ensuring student success in the classroom.

Do teachers’ interactions with students matter? After all, a teacher’s role in the classroom is to facilitate the transfer of knowledge or skill in such a manner that a learner can accomplish a specific outcome. Is it necessary for a teacher to know students’ weekend plans or when Sally is going to take her driver’s test? Does know students’ interests give a teacher an advantage when it comes to selecting the methodology and techniques, he/she selects in teaching subject-specific knowledge or computer skills in a classroom? If the answer to the above questions is yes, then how can a teacher best establish rapport in the classroom that leads to effective teaching?

Enjoying music is an essential part of the human experience, so it follows that incorporating the use of songs in the classroom can be an enriching part of an English learner’s journey. Songs and music can be used in a variety of EFL classrooms, across all cultures, levels of learning, and ages. The benefits of incorporating music in English language study vary from simple vocabulary learning to discover themes about cultures different than the student’s own.

Using flashcards is a learning method brings such a playful ambiance to the teaching process. In general, I have learned that the more fun you have during an activity, regardless of which field you are learning, the bigger the possibility of taking something from it is.

The key to all this is that you don't think about learning or think about that you are working. When we are put in a setting where we are being 'forced' to learn, the brain is very good at creating blocks in your head that keeps you from learning. When you play/have fun - many of... [Read more]

TEFL Reviews & TESOL Reviews
For ITTT, our community of students and alumni is the most important to us. That’s why we’d love to share what our course grads have to say! This will not only have others make a better decision in whether TEFL/TESOL is for them, but it will also help the ITTT community grow bigger and stronger!
The below statements were given from real ITTT alumni who have agreed to share their thoughts for our review section.
In this TESOL review video, ITTT course graduate Elizabeth from the US shares her thoughts on taking online TEFL courses with ITTT. What she enjoyed most about the course was the flexibility it gave her to pursue a TEFL while doing a Master's in music. She also loved the fact that no prior... [Read more]

Let us imagine. How if English teachers only conduct English lessons inside the class? Will the students have fun all the time? Many English teachers reflect on that so, in reality, they try to conduct English lessons not only inside the class but also outside the class. They think that conducting English lessons outside is also needed and important. Therefore, English teachers use some outdoor activities to help when teaching English. By doing so, English teachers believe that they can help their students to increase motivation. They also believe that outdoor activities can give students fun and joy. Here are some interesting activities that English teachers can use to teach English outside the class.

In this essay I will be discussing the problems for young Japanese learners of English, and what problems Japanese learners often encounter as well as explaining some of the reasons why teachers can run into problems while teaching in Japan. I will be referring to the book “The Smart Guide to Teaching English in Japan’ by Charlie Moritz and Martin Bragalone, as well as drawing from my knowledge and experiences of studying and volunteering in Japan. Japan can be a challenging but rewarding country to work in, despite stereotypes of Japanese people being polite and studious so it is important to consider that reality can be different when teaching in Japan.

The realm of teaching is a rewarding one but can often come with challenges, particularly when teaching English as a second language to non-native English speakers. A difficulty that teachers can face especially when teaching younger students is bad behavior in the classroom, and whether strictly punishing students for bad behavior is appropriate or even truly effective. Teachers can address bad behavior in the classroom in positive ways, hopefully making truly meaningful changes in the classroom itself and students individually.

What if you could send your students for a real-life treasure hunt without changing your location. What if you could have them have a conversation with “Queen Elizabeth”. What if I told you all this would be possible one day, with us changing the games we play in class from analog to digital. in this essay I will show some advantages of integrating digital games as a solid part of any teacher’s daily routine for teaching English to students of any age, background or disability and hopefully establish that updating our traditional methods with the surrounding technology can lead to a more successful and effective teaching experience both for the teacher and the student alike.
