Music is a uniquely human characteristic. No other living creature can recreate frequencies, beats, pulses, and harmonies as we do.
This post was written by our TEFL certification graduate Mariana V.
It is known that music has deep psychological effects on us. After all, the human ear is the first sense to develop. That's why many pediatricians recommend classical music (specifically Mozart) even when the baby is in the womb. Neurotransmitters are stimulated and connections are done effectively, which increases cognitive abilities. A study showed that “elementary school students who listened to mood-calming music while completing mathematical problems were able to complete more problems and solve a higher... [Read more]

“A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill the love of learning.” The previous quote as said by the American lawyer Brad Henry highlights the effect of a teacher. The latter whether it is positive or negative can last a lifetime. Teachers move lives, inspire creativity in their students, and enhance their confidence. For the teacher to meet its learning objectives and supersede, managing a classroom could be challenging for some. This is because any teacher needs to have the right balance between being firm and friendly, entertaining but controlling, creating a relaxing atmosphere, and setting discipline. Students nowadays, regardless of their age group, are continually distracted by... [Read more]

Learning difficulties means difficulty in learning but its not globalized. most kids get cold feet in the course of learning a new thing or a new language, some become shy, while some are not motivated or have confidence. I have been around kids for years and I can say that I understand them in some cases or scenarios.when we are working with kids that are shy, less motivated or lack confidence we should use materials that will help to solve that problem, same goes for an adult.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow once said "Music is the universal language of mankind” and it is still widely accepted today. Any language uses words to create sentences that convey messages with different tones and emotions as well as music does. Thus, bringing music to an English classroom is one good way to inspire the learners. There are tons of techniques or ideas involving music and songs that can be applied to any part of a lesson plan. It is available today in the form of online resources to use as a guideline for teachers. However, there are some arguments about how this strategy can be time-consuming and taking away the interest out of a focus lesson. In this case, the advantages outweigh the worries. Here... Nowadays the ESA method is used all over the world to teach English. ESA is the first letters of the phases of an English language lesson. These three elements are; Engage, Study and Activate. The classic method only included study phase. It wasn’t important to teach how to speak the foreign language in the past. However, it is a big issue now. It is hard to improve speaking skills in a country where English isn’t the first language as the students aren’t surrounded by English and don’t have the opportunity to practice realistic situations.

Urban education can be described as a complicated topic for school reformists in America. With critical issues, such as inadequate funding, lack of resources, and uncertified teachers, the myriad of problems with public education has reached a new high. A teacher is often seen as a role model, who inspires and encourages students to strive for greatness, live to the fullest potential and see the best in them.
A teacher also called an educator helps students to acquire knowledge, competence or virtue. Teaching is a process in which the learner, the teacher, the curriculum and other variables are organized systematically and psychologically to attain some pre-determined goals.

Being a teacher has been a dream of mine since childhood, and as time goes by, I started to understand that life is, in fact, a continuous teaching and learning experience. The fact that I could impact someone's life is the greatest reward to be a teacher. My primary reason why I have decided to pursue education is that I naturally feel the strong desire and happiness to positively influencing and educating people. One of the major satisfactions of being a teacher is to enrich a student's life. The essential qualities of this profession would be patience, understanding, compassion, and flexibility.

It was the last day of Japanese class and my teacher’s last day of teaching at our school. We were all standing up getting ready to bow him one last time. It was dead quiet but I could still hear sniffles around me and felt the sadness of the moment. I never thought I would care so much about a teacher leaving. To this day, the words and wisdom my Japanese teacher taught me still ring in my head. Flash forward to a few years ago, I went to Japan for the first time, after a hiatus of not studying Japanese, but amazingly I still had all the skills my teacher had taught me in high school. How did this person have such an impact on me? The answer I have come to realize is that because he truly cared about me becoming... [Read more]
