The Country
Demand for English language teachers in Peru is enormous. Unfavourable factors surrounding the country such as a bad reputation, barriers to securing working papers, questionable safety standards and low rates of pay mean that most teachers usually do not consider Peru as a good location. For those teachers that wish to travel to Peru there do still remain an enormous number of opportunities in spite of these factors.
Teaching positions in Peru are advertised online on the usual TEFL job sources. It is advised that you also run a search for language schools specific to the particular location in which you would like to teach. English teaching jobs in Peru usually feature good conditions, with regular schedules running through the normal working week Monday to Friday. Classes will usually be split into two timeframes, comprising the morning and early evening, leaving much of the day free.
Classes will also consist of varied age groups, ranging from young learners to adults, although the majority of students will be adults.
It is not unusual to be asked to work on a Saturday in which case you will be granted an extra day off during the week.
