This unit taught me how to effectively manage a class. This is something that can be very intimidating, and hard to do successfully. A teacher has to take into account many different factors when thinking about class management, such as the student personalities, backgrounds of the students, their interest in learning, etc. And what might work for one class might not work for another. The teacher has to be aware of their classes and flexible in terms of changing the seating for example, or how they provide instructions. It is best to not single out students who are misbehaving, and focus on the behavior rather than the student. It is important to allow students to work together and learn from each other, not just the teacher. It is vital to allow for student growth, which means allowing them to correct each other and encourage them to express their ideas and opinions to the class. The teacher must do various things, such as being on time, respectful, thoughtful, etc. to establish rapport with their classes.
