This unit was very informative. It starts with leveling testing and needs analysis. Level tests are desinged to be easier at the start and progessively get harder and it's used to determine a students level. There are some criteria depending where you live. For example, there is CEF for Europe, EFL and some others. The common factor binding all standarized methods is the fact that each level has a criteria that must be accomplished in order to move on to the next. Need analysis is a tool used to determine important feedback for teh course. This lets the teacher know the student's previous learning experiences, what they will use English for and what would be most beneficial areas to study. It also can help with classroom arangements and discussion about the general content of the course. Next it goes into limiting factors such as employer, time, resources, cultural issues, and the students themselves. Syllabus Desing is an important subject as it's was imformative to learn a few things here. The different kinds of syllabus are important to make distinctions. Structual focuses on grammar complexity, functional-notional focuses on communicative purpose, learner-led focuses a design with student input, and situational focuses in hypothetical situations rather than grammar. Next taking into account which format would best fit, its importatnt to plan out/space out the lessson with the limiation of time to have a well rounded course that includeds all the lessons highlighted on the syllabus plus some extra content and at least one progress test. Next, Assessment of the students is the last topic. Like previously cover content, There are several types of test designed for different functions and lets the teacher know different things. Such tests are diagnostics, placement, aptitude, progrss, profficiency and achievement. Regardless of which test is used, the tests should me marked prompty, annotated very well, and returned as soon as possible. If there is common errors, than going over such parts is essential to make sure those issues are taken care of. Then it gets into all sort of external examations that are standarized and used for several purposes like higher learning. The last topic is the course evaluation by the students. This part is important because its feedback about the course. It helps with re evaluation the materials and content, the teaching or misunderstandings (cultural).
