The teaching profession like many other professions requires passion, knowledge and the will to contribute and benefit the vast majority with the envisaged goals fulfillment. On the other hand, I may say that the teacher of today is more beyond what I've been expecting. Having read through the roles of a teacher, one may understand that the task isn't as simple as you may have thought once you mastered the subject to be taught but rather complex due to the fact that working with kids and teenagers require an understanding of the different childhood stages and its characteristics, children's psychology, subject knowledge, relationship building that may help implement mutual respect etc. Moreover, taking into account the fact that we are living in a cyber generation, one needs to find ways with which to make use of cyber in the most effective ways. Thus, an English instructor needs to have computer knowledge both to use it as a learning tool as well as to improve students ability in handling technological devices and implement awareness related to its use. Additionally, creativity is what I believe is of utmost importance to help learners to be attracted and concentrated. Obviously, varying the teaching content, the atmosphere, the setting and/or the situation, acting as a tutor, organizer, facilitator, monitor, and a learner at the same time will help reach the envisaged goals. This is what I've learned from this very first unit and I'm very grateful for it.
