Unit 6 was a hands-on course that had me researching cultural issues for Japan, looking at resources for ESL teachers, and updating my resume/cover letter as an ESL instructor. It was fun to research the cultural issues to be aware of in different countries and to learn how this affects the teacher in the classroom. I also enjoyed exploring the resources on the different associations’ websites, which included on-going training, teacher development tools, helpful resources and even connections for employment. Probably the greatest takeaway from this unit’s lesson was the section on the CV/Resume. I was able to make significant progress in updating my resume, which was originally geared for the food industry, to show my qualifications as an ESL instructor. It was very helpful to have the ITTT training as well as my new memberships into several trade organizations on my CV/resume.
