This unit discusses the traits of good learners and teachers, and provides an overview of the different levels of foreign language skill. My primary takeaway is that the traits that make a good teacher and a good student are similar: confidence, but enough flexibility to adapt, a willingness to provide and accept thoughtful feedback and/or criticism, a desire to engage one's self and others in classroom activities, and respect for others. In terms of the language levels, it seems there are challenges and advantages to any level of English familiarity. Personally, I am particularly excited to work with younger students, who are more willing to experiment and make mistakes, and less concerned with appearing silly or incompetent.
