Unit one covers the basic roles for students and teachers in a classroom setting. This includes the different broad techniques or positions a teacher can be in to fulfill different types of learning and learning needs in a class. These include participating with, monitoring, and encouraging students in their learning endeavors by facilitating the learning through multiple forms. Unit one also breaks down and explains the broad, basic student types and backgrounds. These include adult students who tend to be more motivated because they have probably chosen to take said classes for specific reasons. In contrast, younger students like those who are 13 to 17 years of age tend to be less interested and even made to take classes. Finally, young students who are less than 13 years of age tend to be the most inquisitive but, have very short attention spans so classes need to have more activities to lead their attention down the right path.
