Unit1 For teacher, I learned a lot about something basic but so important in teaching. How to be a good teacher, not just care about teaching but also more care about the learning of students. There are so many roles of the teacher which includes manager. organizer, assessor, prompter, participant, tutor, facilitator, model, Monitor. It’s very important that a teacher is able to switch between these roles appropriately and is aware of how to carry out the required role. Then teachers can manage the class well. For learner, first, I learned what a good learner is and the difference between young learners and adult learners. Second, a good teacher should be aware of the difference of students’ culture and first language that could affect the success of the classes. Third, there are six language levels which includes beginners, elementary, low/pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate and advanced. The Europe states are Breakthrough(A1), Waystage(A2), Threshold(B1), Vantage(B2), Effective Operational Proficiency(C1), Mastery(C2). If we know the different level students, we can choose the right activities. Fourth, there are multi motivations of learner which can be used to motivate the students. So it’s important to know the students’ motivation. In conclusion, I think a good teacher should have good teaching skills and is able to use different ways to motivate and teach different types of students. And before teaching, we should know students’ background includes their culture, first language, work, interest, learning experience, etc. Then we can teach them more effectively and properly.
