In this unit, I learned a new teaching method called Engage, Study, Activate or in short, ESA. This approach has many types: the Straight Arrow, the Boomerang, and the Patchwork. I liked the metaphor used about grammar being a tree trunk while ‘vocabulary and functions are the leaves that add beauty and variety.’ I agree that a tree without its leaves is unappealing and unattractive. Surely, when you are adept in grammar, have a good vocabulary and are knowledgeable of the different functions, then you have successfully acquired and mastered the English language.
