In this unit, I have learned that when it comes to teaching new vocabulary, students rely on the similarities it has to their own language, the similarity to the English words they already know, spelling and pronunciation, and its appropriacy. In order for students to understand new vocabulary, it is best to pick words that are similar to ones they know, or words that will be easy for them to understand. For grammatical structures, it is best to keep in mind its meaning, use, forms and patters, and its spoken and written form. The best ways in introducing the grammatical structures is by having pictures, drawings and so on. For the students to study, gap fills is an option for the students to understand.
