With the development of science and technology, the integration of global information and economy, and the multi-cultural global village, English learning has become a fashion in China and a necessary skill for modern talents. As an English teacher, cultivating students' comprehensive ability has become the requirement of the times. In order to achieve an efficient classroom, the role of teachers is very important. Teachers need to reposition themselves. Teachers should study textbooks, design and arrange colorful and effective activities that students are willing to participate in according to teaching needs, students' actual level and teaching objectives, so as to make the classroom full of fun and make students happy to learn English in a pleasant atmosphere. Teachers only participate as guides or hosts. Help students correct pronunciation, intonation and demonstrate some communicative activities. We should adjust the teaching methods from practice instead of lecture. In order to increase the interesting elements in the classroom, teachers can adapt textbook dialogues into drama performances, retelling texts and other forms, so that students can use knowledge in happiness. This kind of teaching, which combines language form with real life, has greatly trained students' abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. At the same time, it has established a preliminary sense of language, internalized knowledge and enhanced the practical ability of using language. Teachers can give students some praise and encouragement to improve their enthusiasm for learning. Looking back on the present teaching experience, I could position myself as an instructor. My responsibilities are to activate students’ prior knowledge and transmit new knowledge. Due to my deficient capability, I couldn’t find each student’s interests and explore their potential capabilities. Despite I am full of passion in the teaching practice, my teaching is not effective. With the development of the new English curriculum, teachers are expected to put on new roles. Under such circumstance, I would like to position myself as a guide. On the one hand, I am required to possess professional teaching capabilities, which are composed of sufficient professional competence, good subject knowledge, strong teaching skills, practical knowledge and useful beliefs about language and language learning. As a guide, I should be knowledgeable about English.On the other hand, a guide should well know how to treat students, myself and others. I could be sensitive to learners and treat them with empathy, responsibility, kindness and fairness. I am also asked to look at myself by being likeable, enthusiastic, self-confident, approachable and self-adaptable. When working with colleagues, I could try to be friendly broad-minded, honest and cooperative.What students they are depends on what qualities students’teachers have. To nurture the new generation, I should spare no effort to improve myself. The most effective means is to enrich my knowledge from the academic and practical perspective and put what I have learned into use. From now, I would struggle to become a guide.Learn to correctly use evaluation and testing methods, not to strive for high marks.To cultivate scientific research ability and realize its own sustainable development. When a teacher's profession is sacred; responsibility is great; as long as you resist temptation, endure loneliness, and survive poverty, you will succeed.
