Grammar is the basic part of learning any language ,As it enables learners to communicate effectively and accurately. In English there are eight different types of words which are called "parts of speech". Each part of speech has a specific use and function. This unit is divided into eight sections starting with nouns which are words that name things, places, objects, animals, ideas and feelings. on the other hand we have pronouns which are words that take place of a noun in a sentence. Example : Sam is playing tennis. (noun ) Dina is doing her homework. She is doing her homework. ( pronoun ) Next we have verbs which are words that express an action or a state of being. I addition, we have gerund that is the ING form of a verb used as a noun. Examples : he Plays very good .( verb ) I prefer eating salad for lunch. (gerund) Another two types of words are adjectives and adverbs. Adjective is a word which qualifies, quantifies and modifies a nouns. Whereas an adverb modifies the meaning of a verb , adjective or another adverb. Example : That girl is tall. ( adjective) She is walking slowly. ( adverb ) The last two parts of speech are articles and prepositions/conjunctions. Articles are divided into definite ( the ) and indefinite ( a , an). An article is a type of determiner that precedes and provides context to a noun. A Preposition is a word which shows the relation between the noun or pronoun and other words in the sentence. finally we have conjunction that is a word which joins two related or separated sentences as one long sentence. Example : I ate an apple yesterday. The apple was juicy and delicious. ( Article ) The dog is behind the tree. ( preposition ) Because Sara was late, she received a cut in pay.
