This unit gave me a deeper and more complex understanding of how to speak about and teach parts of speech. Although I was familiar with most of the conventions outlined in the unit, there were some parts of speech whose formal names and definitions I did not know (for example, although I understand what a transitive verb is and how it is used, I did not actually know it was called a transitive verb until this lesson). Knowing how to accurately describe the parts of speech to others will enable me to be a better teacher, as I can now give more precise technical explanations of what the parts of speech are, and how they are used.
