New technology in the classroom is very important and gives the students a broader experience when learning and should be embraced in schools. The world is forever changing and more young people are using technology today than in any time before. Technology has a common ground with people even if we don't speak the same language. For younger learners the use of a tablet that has educational games on grammar and speech would have a profound effect and also keep them engaged in the lesson. I know most people are more visual and when it comes to learning I think its best we try to exploit that when we can. I'm not saying that the conventional ways of teaching are wrong it's just that I've seen technology work in better ways to breaking the ice on that first lesson experience both for the teacher and for the student. A lot of new age schools are using new technology and the productivity from the students is much higher because most students already have this in their homes from a young age. I don't really see any down falls to using new technology in the classrooms other then maybe prolonged use of computers and tablets which might affect eyesight issues and carpal tunnel syndrome when using a keyboard. New technology also means computer games which is also a subject of some debate but in my opinion and own experience computer games has expanded my vocabulary with words I wouldn't have known at my younger stage in life. This is what I would want to bring to the table in any teaching endeavor I take. My own personal knowledge of new technology which I keep up to date would have a fun yet informative experience with my students. New technology in a whole should not be feared but should be tested further to see if there are any real problems that it may pose. The benefits to new technology in the classroom are in my mind the future of learning and I think at one point in time it will consume the every aspect of teaching in the near future. I as a new teacher would not want to see that out come because it would take away from the personal touch and flare that teachers bring to the table. I would like to see a combination of both. In the research I've done I haven't seen ESL classes use of new technology and is that a lack in English based games that that are appropriate for an ESL student. I think new technology for grammar problems would be an essential tool for the beginner student. New Technology would help participation in the classroom as well has giving the students their own voice as well as to be creative in the answers they provide. Benefits that come with having new technology in schools is expanding on and reinforcing lessons and also gives teachers on option to reach different learning behaviors with the students.
