A teacher can be defined as someone who instruct, tutor and guide others to acquire knowledge, positive thinking and some vital reasoning to build societies. Many today take teaching as a professions and today teachers are specialize in different disciplines of life, be it in a classroom, or work place or at home impacting pupil and adults with knowledge. However the most challenging question is to be able to know who is a good teacher? From a scholar’s perspective, a good teacher should be someone who is caring, loving, friendly and committed and above all a role model to whom one can always look up to. Furthermore, a good teacher must possess a good number of qualities among st which could be cited a few like a teacher must be specialized in one field or the other, have good control of his or her classroom, and still be able to pass down the knowledge to his students in a best way possible which will encourage and motivate learners to want to learn more. Our point of focus will be on the importance of a teacher’s role in a classroom. The teacher being the master of his class ensures the management of his class. It’s always good to know that a teacher has many roles he or she plays in order to ensure the understanding of student no matter their level of understanding. One of the role is that of being a good manager which entails a teacher to be in control of a classroom to set rules, organize and coordinate classroom activities .while being the manager who determine activities, the teacher should also give that role to students that opportunity. Letting the kids handle the running of classroom activities will help them to be self-determine, with a close supervision from the teacher when the need arises. Furthermore a teacher should not just be a manager but also an organizer, one who will properly organize students taking into consideration their levels of acquired skills in order to ensure that there is an equitable balance in the class and all students are equally active during lessons. Another point to take note of is the fact that the teacher should be a motivator to students by being committed to help students whenever necessary in a best and most lovely way possible while allowing the students to take personal initiative with the same motive to be achieved. The only way to achieve this is for the teacher to create a comfortable environment for students to participant. There is no dispute to the fact that the teacher is the basic foundation to every career, that is why we look up to the teacher as the role model to students’ after parents the teacher plays an important role in molding students’ progress .nether the less Looking at the importance of a teacher’s role as a tutor is worth noting that each of the roles played by the teacher is very important in a student’s evolution as far as acquiring knowledge and skills are concerned thus the most important and vital role of a teacher is to teach knowledge to the students , the teacher should organize , discipline create a friendly and healthy learning environment which will be effective for all the student to be active and corporate in classroom . Must important the teacher should be able to adapt to changes and see into student’s problems, in a situation where the student changes in altitude towards others the teacher should able to access this and seek solutions. Secondly the role of a teacher as a mentor helps to improve the skills of students, this involves encouraging students to love learning. Another important role is for the teacher to sets rules and routines governing the classrooms so that the students get to know how to manage their time and become conscious of what to do and at what time to carry out activities thus this will save time for both the teacher and students once they know what to do and what time to do it in a long run .Thirdly looking at a teacher as an Assessor is an important role to check and evaluate students’ performance and do corrections ,as an assessor it gives the teachers an opportunity to correct learners. However to an extent evaluations are sometimes kept personal in other not to discourage learners with weak performance. It makes the students feel positive because teachers who recognizes and praise efforts made by their students will always motivate the students to look up to the teacher and be willing to learn more if they feel their work is recognized and valued. To conclude there is no dispute that the teacher is inevitable to the growth of a student’s ability to understand the positive goals in life to be able to apply it in the society like. However the importance of the role teacher’s play in the lives of the learners places them at exemplary person whom others look up to for advice and knowledge
