This unit focuses on the methodologies of teaching, such as Grammar-translation; Audio - lingualism; Presentation, practice and production; Task - based learning; Communicative language; Community Language Learning; The silent way; Suggestopaedia and the Lexical approach, giving us deeper knowledge about all of them and aiming that it depends on individual circumstances which one should be used and when. However, the most effective and logical method is Engage, Study and Activate, which gives the teacher a great deal of flexibility in the classroom. During the Engage phase the teacher is trying to attract students`attention and to involve them in the lesson. The Study phase focuses on the construction of the language throughout practice and exercises. The Activate phase encourages the students to use all the language they know and focuses on their fluency. Many ideas has been given as examples for the Engage phase, some of which include memory games, alphabet relay, partner information share, anagrams, word linking, informational search, sentence prompts, etc. Elicitation, pronunciation, spelling, meaning, analysis, word searches,hangman and tongue twisters are examples for the Study phase. Some of the ideas for the Active phase include role - play, survey and mill - drills, producing materials, communication games, debates and discussions as well as story building. The purpose of giving feedback is to encourage self-awareness and improvement, as well as to help students evaluate their own success and progress. Some of correction techniques are Self-correction when the student has the opportunity to correct him/herself; Student-student correction allowing other students to help correcting the mistake; Teacher - student correction, which should be the last resort. Some of the mistakes a teacher should correct regards the language point of the teaching, the mistakes that are regularly repeated and the ones which seriously impedes understanding. Codes in the margin or the body of the writing with explanation of their meaning is one of the most effective way of correcting a written work as it seems less threatening to the students and it gives them an opportunity to correct themselves.
