As long as people are learning and teaching languages there were a lot of debates about what method is better and what technique gives a better result. Among those techniques are communicative language teaching, silent way, suggestopedia, audio-lingualism and others. But actually the most effective method Engage, Study, Activate (or ESA) was offered by Jeremy Harmer. The Engage part consists of activities those help to warm up and motivate learners before real “teaching”. During the Study part learners are more focused on the structure of the language. They can do exercises after which the teacher can review their answers and go over any errors. In the Activate part the students can communicate freely. Offering role play learners are encouraged to use the language they know. At the end the teacher gives a feedback and corrects mistakes.
