I have learned that a teacher's time in the classroom will go more smoothly upon establishing rapport. While having a charming personality can be helpful, it is certainly not the only ingredient; there is a lot that teachers can do inside and outside of class to connect with the students. Remembering names and facts about the students proves that they are seen as individuals. I will be sure to interact with kids outside of class and show interest in extracurricular activities. Before, when I made lesson plans, I simply thought along the lines of warm-ups, worksheets, and games to use the target language and vocabulary. It wasn't until I took this course that I realized how important other aspects of a lesson plan are. For example, is the goal measurable? I also never thought to consider student and teacher problems as a part of the lesson plan, and thinking on those sections was probably one of the hardest parts of crafting lesson plans for the course. But these sections are all a part of thorough participation. If you expect a problem to happen, you will be better-prepared to deal with it. I intend to use the lesson plan formats for my classes.
