Unit 9 offers some helpful ideas about the pros and cons of using set (or authentic) study materials and/or creative study materials. There are some sample activities provided as well. It seems evident that a combination of prescribed materials which offer some consistent skill development and creative material that would relate specifically to the student(s)would offer the students the most well rounded language experience.
