Being a native speaker I learnt english naturally as a child and a lot of grammar was not something that required teaching. I have gathered a lot of understanding of the correct way to teach grammar rules and terms that I was not aware of before, despite my daily use of them. I now understand why we structure sentences the way we do but I have also learnt that actually english does not always make as much sense as we always thought!
I have learnt a lot about lesson structuring and have found the ESA lesson planning units to be very helpful and will be using that as a way to always plan a balanced lesson. It has also given me lots of ideas on how to present language in engaging and interesting ways for different levels of students. I will be referring to the teaching ideas frequently for inspiration for my classes.
