I have gained a great deal of information from this course. Although, most of the work I did is for an adult learner I can still fit it to the youngsters I teach. The greatest thing I enjoyed learning was the lesson planning, because I see the things that are wrong that I was required to do before. Now, I feel I can do a better job in lesson planning for my classes.
For the most part the grammar parts were fun and challenging to relearn again, and if I ever move up to teaching higher english learners I can approach it confidently. Things I do naturally I can explain them to a student without having to figure out why I know something. Also, if need be I have books I can refer to for things that I don't explain well.
The phonic part was challenging to me, and once I got over my initial fears of, “What is this?” I was able to complete the portions and understand it better. Also, I even started using this in my classroom to teach the students. I make sure they sound out the words, and do funny voices for them to understand the proper pronunciation.
This course over all has brought clarity to me, and got rid of fear I had when I first started. Although, I know things don't go as planned in the classroom, but I know I am prepared to teach better after all the knowledge I have gained.
