Even as a native
english speaker, I learned a lot about the
english language through this course. The course reviewed grammar topics, such as parts of speech, present tenses, past tenses, future tenses, active voice, and passive voice. Moreover, the course taught me about modal auxiliary verbs, phrasal verbs, conditionals, directed speech, reported speech, and the phonetic alphabet. The course helped me become familiar with teaching receptive skills and productive skills and monitoring and testing students' knowledge.
The course taught me how to become a "good
teacher" in the
english language field, how to plan lessons using the ESA (engage, study, activate) lesson formats, and how to manage the classroom. The course introduced me to the different language learner levels, teaching theories, teaching methods, the difference between teaching child and adult learners, and the difference between teaching monolingual and multilingual students. The course gave insight into teaching a new language to various language levels, how to effectively use classroom equipment, and teaching special programs and clients based on a needs analysis. Overall, the course solidified my grammar knowledge, introduced me to new grammar topics, and helped me learn how to manage a classroom and how to effectively plan and execute
english lessons.
