I have learnt a lot from this course. I have firstly learnt a lot of theory that I didn't have before. I am an experienced teacher, but there were gaps in my knowledge as I don't have formal teaching qualification; what I have learnt I have done so from experience and the help and guidance of those around me when I began my teaching career. From studying the tefl, I have become aware of the theories around the practice of teaching, the psychology behind the practice and the motivations of students. I have learnt a lot about how to, and how not to, do things and what will, and will not, be successful. I have learnt how to teach skills to my students and how to plan classes in an effective way. I could go on for a good few pages about all that this course has given me, but, suffice it to say that I finish with knowledge and skills that I didn't have before and that will enrich my teaching practice. And, as we all know, we all strive to improve within our chosen area of expertise and this program will help me to do so. How will I put it into practice? I have already begun. To explain, even though I had a good knowledge of grammar, to the extent that it was very rare for me to have a grammatical question that I couldn't answer, I have learnt a lot about grammar from the tefl. That is already evident to me in the explanations I am now giving my students. As for the rest, understanding the psychology behind teaching will be something that will benefit me every lesson I give. Knowing how to teach the students skills that they need, understanding more about teaching pronunciation, it all helps me to become a better teacher.
