I learned to translate script using the phonetic box. I did not know it existed but now I know why it does and how it helps to form the sounds. A lot of the written words sound the same but have different meanings. A lot of the words that are spelled the same have different sounds. I also learned that pronunciation helps you articulate your meaning by stressing different parts of the sentence. I had a bit of difficulty with intonation and judging the rise and fall of it. As a native english speaker I sometimes cannot see the differences.
