Since I am a Native english speaker I never noticed how much detail goes into people's reading and writing skills. The reason why students are learning a language or reading a novel can vary. The most interesting part is how we receive information. Sometimes we need to have full understanding of what we are reading and listening to in front of us. There are other time when the information we need is very small and we must scan or skim to find it.
