Because I am, in the world of english, a creative writer rather than a business writer I began this course with some trepidation. Grammar rules rummaged through my head as I scrambled through the maze of designing lesson plans. Understanding the differences between the stages was a slow uphill climb. Finally though, it began to make sense. Oddly enough I was able to use this ESA strategy in my own life recently. After all, it actually follows the natural path of learning a new thing. We are exposed to something, we find out more about it, and then decide if we want to try it. It's quite simple, even though to me, it was at first quite complicated. Therein, lays my most cherished learning from this course. Even a most complex equation can be broken down into small nuggets of understanding. I see from this class that the bridge to teaching english is to be crossed over one step at a time. Some classes I may be able to use bigger steps, or walk at a faster pace. I am certain with each class I will have the privilege of learning something new. There is so much information and help available through different online communities. I have tucked away a lot of these resource materials along with the resources listed in many of the units. This lessens any apprehension I may have had thinking that I had to know it all before I could teach. I can't wait to get started. In fact, I will be learning a new language as well.
