Being a non-native speaker of english, I learned the grammar the same way it has been taught in this course, but the unit about direct and indirect speech did clarify some details such as the verb tense changes. Also, I learned how to structure my lesson plans to better achieve my objectives. At first, I did not particularly enjoy typing up lesson plans for the course and found it to be quite a difficult task. I have been teaching english in japan for 3 years now and I was used to a certain way of doing things and it was hard to step out of it. However, I have already started applying the new principles I learned to my new lessons. Some of the lesson plans I have presented where based on previous lessons I had done before and this new structured lesson planning method did allow me to notice some things that should be changed and I am looking forward to trying these improved lessons with my new classes. I have definitely discovered the importance of detailed lesson planning. Overall, I feel more prepared that I used too. It has increased my self-confidence as I have seen that there were things I already knew or understood even before the course.
