This module covered the complexities of conditionals and reported speech. Whilst I use such mechanisms regularly it struck me that I had probably not considered the rules that governed them since learning them in school. It caused me to reflect on how much our my language use has become automatic and the necessity to check what I teach students rather than just assuming such rules develop from exposure to the language. I found several of the test questions challenging as I suspect there are areas where the common usage is not necessarily the correct form which will be another aspect I will need to be aware of when teaching.
