Unit 11 talks about the different skills in any language. It goes in detail about the receptive skills which are Listening and reading. Listening and reading skills are both equally important as well as speaking and writing skills which are productive skills. There are many reasons why one reads and listens but generally the purposes of reading and listening are for pleasure and or for a purpose. There are various ways in which we use our receptive skills and so teachers must bear these in mind. I learnt that there are authentic texts and non-authentic texts. Authentic texts focuses on what students don't know while non-authentic texts focuses on what students know.
