Structure of a language is called grammar. Basic parts of the grammar are called parts of the speech. Each word in a sentence is one of the parts of the speech. More important parts of the speech are noun, verb, adverb, adjective, preposition, infinitive, gerund, article, pronoun and conjunction. The sentence must consist of at least a subject and verb. Main nouns are common , proper ,compound , abstract and collective .Nouns can be countable or uncountable . Verbs are words that refer to action or state and with a subject they make a sentence. Adverbs are words that add meaning to the action. Most are formed by adding ?ly? to an adjective. Adjectives are being used to describe nouns. Articles in English language are indefinite (a or an) ? to be used when referring to any member of the group and definite (the) ? to be used when referring to a specific member of a group. A gerund is a form of a verb which acts as a noun .It is formed by adding ?ing? to the verb. The infinitive form of a verb (which also finish with an ?ing?) is the verb in its basic form . Pronouns can be personal , possessive , reflexive or relative and are used instead of more precise nouns or noun phrases. Prepositions are words that show relationship between a noun and other words in the sentence . They are divided in categories - place , time ,movement . Conjunctions are words that connect two words of the same group or two sentences . As it was well said at the beginning of this unit ?grammar was the part of the English language that made me a little anxious but after finishing this unit I feel confident .
