Once the baby is born they recognize their mother tongue. Though, a baby is born with the ability to learn any language and multiple languages. The population we serve is diverse, but the majority of families in our particular centers are Latino. Although I am not employed in a classroom teaching position, I have a great deal of contact with the children and with their parents.
