Before we talk about English as a global language, we should know what global language and how a language becomes a global language. Refers to Mastin, L., 2011, “Global language essentially refers to a language that is learned and spoken internationally and is characterized not only by the number of its native and second language speakers, but also by its geographical distribution, and its use in international organizations and diplomatic relations. ” Global language is the language known and commonly used by most countries in the world when some business relationship happens between two or more than two countries, to promote the development of politics, economy, and culture. A language is called a “global language” when it achieves the official position and education preference in every nation. A global language comes to be used by more people than any other language. The essential reason to make a language global or international is its power for people. The power includes the power of the military, politics, and economy. English is a universal language. It is the world’s second native language and the formal language in 70 countries. English-speaking countries are accountable for about 40% of the world's total GNP, while English is used everywhere in the world.

Korean learners of the English language face numerous challenges in acquiring the language on a proficient level, although English is introduced to children at an early age. English is incorporated into the primary school curriculum from the age of four, yet only a small minority master the language on a proficient conversational level. Unfortunately, the reasons seem to stem from cultural and social differences, the significant differences between the two languages; Korean and English, and the Korean Educational System is also a contributing factor.

Every teacher I’ve spoken to, tells me about the horror they felt when they stood before their very first classroom full of students. First and foremost, the educational structure in South Korea is quite different from those of Europe or the United States. Korean kids usually start studying English from the age of three. The 20th century brought in its wake the concept of globalization, changing the dynamics of the world to what we have come to know it as today. As the world continues to move towards becoming a grand global village, many countries, people and things which once seemed so far out of reach are now more readily available and closer to home. Undoubtedly, with the advent of globalization, communication has become paramount to the ways in which we share knowledge and gather or receive information. Why? Because without this, humans will have a much more challenging time building relationships with others be it for economic, social or spiritual gains (just to name a few).

The range of roles EFL teachers plays to ensure that learning takes place is undoubtedly wide. Among these, we may see teachers as planners, deciding which aspects of the subject to teach and how to do it; as facilitators, providing learners with strategies to guide them in the quest for knowledge; and as managers, establishing the patterns of interaction among students and making sure they focus their attention on the lesson and engage in the proposed tasks. Considering these roles, I think the latter seems to be the hardest one to perform since it involves managing people’s attitude and behavior, which means establishing and maintaining discipline in such a way that it does not affect teacher-student rapport... Language is a tool for communication; we use it to share our ideas and learn about those of other people. Communication occurs anywhere speech is present. Without speaking, we are unable to communicate with one another. Therefore, speaking skills are crucial for language learners of any language.
English skills include speaking, writing, reading, and listening. Although mastery of each communication skill is necessary to become a well-rounded communicator, speaking fluently has several important benefits. There are many advantages for the speaker when they can meaningfully combine words to convey their thoughts, attitudes, and feelings. Therefore, learning a second language,... [Read more]

Fears of declining reading rates have long plagued the United States. In 2007, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) released To Read or Not To Read: A Question of National Consequence, a report showing that reading rates for all demographic factors had declined.
