Teaching English in China is as popular as ever and is one of the best places to put your TEFL certificate to use. In 2014, 7.26 million students graduated with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and the numbers were expected to rise in 2015. There are over 30,000 organizations or companies offering private English classes, with the Chinese market having nearly doubled in size in the last five years and is now worth around $3.1 billion.
Certified TEFL teachers in China can expect to make between 6,000 - 16,000 RMB ($942 - $2,500 USD). Those teaching at an international school, however, can make up to 30,000 RMB ($4,700 USD). How far exactly will your salary get you in China? Most TEFL teachers put away a good amount of... [Read more]

There are many course structures available now for teaching English. However, there are problems there to be solved. Problems are like some students find memorizing words and grammar all the time are boring; some find learning English itself is meaningless; some find they can’t talk and use it after learning all grammar from grammar practice books; some students are so nervous to talk that they kill the “communication and thinking tool” in its cradle; some even hate it after several tries of learning. However, English’s not to blame for the problems. Neither the things described by English nor grammar is. Resources are littered casually within the mind, they need to be kept in personalized rows by... [Read more]

Readers are for sure leaders, not just merely for the fact of reading, but for the thinking process that comes with reading. As an individual, I love reading. I love the smell of the book paper. The tiny letters and turning another page is something that I enjoy deeply. However, I didn't become an avid reader by chance. I become a reader because I was born in a family where reading was a natural thing. My father was a university professor and was reading all the time. My mother, an accounting expert, used to read laws and regulations to ensure that her work is respecting the law.

Learning another language can and should be fun. A primary focus as a teacher should be to create an engaging learning environment for students. One of the simplest ways to do this is by diversifying your lessons. Having a variety of teaching styles and activities is a productive way to ensure that you teach a combination of skills and touch on the interests of all students.
Monotony breeds boredom. Having different activities and assignments will keep students excited, creating an ideal learning environment that inspires learners to excel. A class that consistently has the same formula can become repetitive, and students may get bored. If... [Read more]

I work in two schools. I am an assistant language teacher at one commercial (low-level English) high school, and an integrated (high-level English) academic junior high and high school. I have had experiences with different kinds of students, Japanese-English teachers, and classroom atmospheres. In Japan, students take an entrance exam to get into high school. If they scored low on the entrance exam, then they are placed in the lowest ranking class. Each school has a certain number of classrooms for each grade. Both of my high schools have six classes total for each grade. There are usually around forty to forty-two students in each class as well. Teaching forty plus students in a crowded classroom is... After the coronavirus, schools all around the world started switching to online classes. Even before the pandemic, there were a lot of people already recognizing the benefits of the online classroom and when the corona crisis began, more people were convinced of the many benefits of learning online.
The first reason I would like to mention is that online learning is incredibly flexible. Students are usually able to choose their own study times. Not only that but online learning also allows you to study at your own pace. This is extremely beneficial for students of different levels and with different needs. Comparing this with traditional schools, it's quite clear that online learning takes the lead here. Maybe at... [Read more]

These courses have similar approaches to teaching techniques and methods, they are well structured and provide much useful information on teaching resources, teaching theories as well as practical tasks. Turkey is one of the most beautiful countries where you can have a lovely vacation. There are many touristic sites and fascinating places that will mesmerize you with the beauty of this country. When I decided to move to Istanbul almost two years ago, in October 2020, it was still the period of the covid-19 pandemic. This was really hard, as the companies were still closed, and everything was online, which made it hard for me to find a job. Our TEFL course in Taiwan is based in the city of Taipei, a bustling metropolis, which is the political, economic, educational, and cultural center of Taiwan. It also serves as a major hub in the East Asia region. Taipei is a city of contrasts with architecture to match its fascinating history. Modern high-rises and skyscrapers co-exist with more traditional Chinese temples and colonial buildings. Taipei’s most famous building, and one of the most famous skyscrapers in the world, is the Taipei 101 building, which was the tallest building when it was built in 2004. A record it held until the Burj Khalifa arrived in 2009. The culture and history of Taiwan can be explored in the many fascinating museums such as the National Palace Museum.
