Receptive and productive skills are very important. A teacher should break them down by explaining the receptive skills: reading and listening and the productive skills: speaking and writing are equally important. Reading and listening aren't as simple as they sound. We must have pre-existent knowledge to gain true understanding. Listening is harder than reading and both skills should be taught simultaneously. Speaking is easier than writing. A word must be written then pronounced in order to capture the meaning and the correct spelling.
