Admittedly, before I took this course, as a college educated, native-english speaker, and self-professed writer, I was a little cocky about my own abilities and wasn't sure how much new information I would gain from this online course. Once I started though, I was very surprised and impressed by how much I actually didn't know about the english language and all of it's complex subtleties. I had taken for granted what had come so effortlessly to me growing up and I now, more than ever, have a respect for anyone trying to learn english as a secondary language. This understanding I will take with me when I become a teacher and help me remain patient and understanding of those who many not catch on so quickly.
