There’s certainly been a lot that I’ve gained from this course! Originally, my interest in this course was sparked because it is a requirement for the english Program in Korean (EPIK) that I was applying for, and it gives you a raise as well. However, even while filling out the application for EPIK I realized that I knew very little about teaching english as a foreign language and that became my second motivator.
This course has provided me with great skills for lesson planning, amazing resources on the web and books that are useful as well. The 20 Units in this course are about something different entirely, most of which I knew little about, so I learned something new in every Unit! Who knew the english language had so many tenses and that as a native english speaker I would have a difficult time with some of them?! Proper grammar is a strange thing indeed. Though I still think I might be slightly lost during my first few days of teaching, I am definitely far better equipped now than I was before completing this tefl course. I have some basic knowledge on grammar, sentence structure, the different parts of speech, classroom management and setup, a firm grasp on ESA, and much more! I’m sure I will be using all this valuable information in my next year as an english teacher in South Korea!
