The School

Our TEFL training center in Sydney houses its own language school. This means that during your observed teaching practice, you’ll gain a perfect understanding of how a real world classroom should function.

With the help of our experienced training staff, you’ll deliver lessons to real EFL students who do not speak English as their native language. Students are enthusiastic and come to class voluntarily, so you’ll have a friendly and supportive environment in which to learn the skills needed to become an effective teacher.

Both the language school and training center are found within a refurbished office block, reminiscent of 1920s architecture. The center is also very close to Town Hall, Sydney Tower and the majestic, Queen Victoria Building. We’re also within easy reach of Sydney’s famous Opera House, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Botanical Gardens and many more stunning attractions.

The center is also conveniently located near major transport links and local amenities are never far away.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are my payment options?

Expand thin line on white background

Course deposits must be paid to our administrative center. Credit/debit card payments are the fastest and cheapest way to pay, but we also accept payments via Western Union, Pay Pal and bank transfer. While there are no deadlines for a deposit, courses can fill up quickly and your seat will only be reserved after the deposit has been paid.

Once you make your deposit, you will receive an email with an informational packet that provides detailed information about the course and Sydney itself.

The balance of the course fee is payable online before the course (credit/debit card, Pay Pal). We also accept cash payments on the first day of the course.

Course fees are all-inclusive so you won’t be asked to pay additional costs for course related materials or services. This also includes course moderation, accreditation fees and lifetime job assistance.

  • What are my accommodation options?

Expand thin line on white background

We have partnered with a hostel in the neighborhood that will provide trainees with the most affordable accommodation available (AU$ 2,200 for 4 weeks). Other options are also available and we are happy to provide you with the details of these. If you would like to book accommodation directly through us, please note that you will be charged a service fee.

  • What travel documents will I need for australia?

This information is specific to your country of origin. For the most accurate and current information regarding travel documents for Australia, please contact your nearest consulate. There is also a very good chance that all the information you require (application documents, application fees, duration of processing documents), is available on the embassy’s webpage.

  • What is the course schedule?

Expand thin line on white background

From Monday to Friday, there are input sessions every morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. when trainees learn classroom management, grammar, language and culture and other practical aspects of the course. The lunch break is from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. In the afternoon, trainees prepare their lessons with assistance from their trainer. They may either be teaching their lessons to international students in a classroom situation or be involved in one of the other unique and exciting aspects of our course, such as observing teachers, getting advice on starting your own tutoring business, learning about IELTS or teaching private students. These lessons are followed by feedback from the trainer. We aim to provide six to ten hours of observed teaching practice over the 4-week course. On three of the Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. there is a special language acquisition module where you learn a foreign language so that you can understand what it is like for a non-native speaker to learn English.

  • What can I expect during teaching practice?

Expand thin line on white background

We use international students for the trainees’ classroom teaching practice. These students are very keen and enthusiastic and because we only charge a nominal fee for them to attend, all students come to classes purely because they want to! We also use international students for the private tuition sessions. The private students do not pay for these one hour lessons so they are very excited to be part of it!

  • Who usually attends the course?

Expand thin line on white background

On average we have around six trainees enrolled on each course, although this number does vary throughout the year. Most of our participants are from English speaking countries such as America, The United Kingdom, Canada or Australia, although we do accept non-native speakers of English who have a high proficiency in the language.

  • Is there a dress code?

Expand thin line on white background

Please check the weather for the time of year that you are staying with us as it can vary considerably. Australians generally wear layers as the weather can change from hour to hour.

    Input Sessions and Lesson Planning:

Attire is casual and relaxed. While there is air conditioning available, please dress comfortably.

Practice Teaching Sessions at the Training Centre:

Attire is smart and conservative. Your shoulders must be covered and skirts or trousers must cover your knees when you are sitting down. For women, be careful that your shirts are not too low cut or show your stomach as you may need to lean over to help a student sitting at a desk. Jeans and shorts are not acceptable. Shoes or sandals should be smart in appearance.

  • What should I bring for course studies?

Expand thin line on white background

Please be sure to arrive on the first day of the course with a notebook and a pen. We also encourage you to bring a laptop as we have Wi-Fi at the training center. We will provide all course materials for you so there is no need to bring anything else for the course itself.
