Unit 10 presents two videos of an english language lesson to the same group of students by the same teacher. The teacher’s attitude towards the students and the students’ attitude towards the teacher in these two videos are worlds apart. The teacher shows no interest in his job or students’ learning progress in the first video. He looks annoyed and irritated by the class. It looks like he is just a native english speaker who is not qualified to teach or without any knowledge of english Grammar as he couldn’t explain the difference between “can†and “couldâ€Â. The students look scared and intimidated by the teacher. It seems that even though they are paying attention to what the teacher is saying they do not understand him and are afraid to ask questions. The second video paints a completely different picture. The teacher is engaging and enthusiastic. He is friendly and it looks like he is enjoying his job. The students are given clear instructions and are encouraged to practice the language. They participate in the activities and are not scared to make mistakes producing sentences.
