This unit covered a range of present tenses and caused me to reflect on my own use of the english language. Having learned the structure of present tenses many years ago I had forgotten how difficult it can be to explain the concept in an abstract manner to someone unfamiliar with it and it took me a couple of attempts at reading the material to clarify the concepts in my own mind to the point I felt ready to try the test. Given that I am a native speaker this caused me to think about how complex and confusing the structure must seem to learners for whom english is a second language.
