Reading and listening are more than just with our eyes and ears! There are a lot more factors involved in both reading and listening. Our cultures and knowledge play a big role in what we understand. People from different cultures with different knowledge may understand things they read or hear very differently. I like the idea of introducing difficult vocabulary before you go through the actual material so that the student may understand the entire lesson better. When a teacher is organized they can see and avoid potential future problems for their students. Choosing topics of interest for the students is also smart as when the students are interested in the subject matter it is easier to hold their attention during the lesson.
