In the beginning, I had just planned on getting through the lessons as fast as I possibly can without thinking about what I'd actually learn. As I began studying the lessons, I slowly started to realize that teaching was something I can take lightly and that it comes with great responsibilities of teaching others. I learned that there were different levels of beginners and that there were different types of learners. Not everyone will learn and comprehend the material the same way. I also learned that the teacher has to be fully knowledgeable of the material being taught and that the teacher has to be fully prepared for whatever can and might happen in the classroom. In the later lessons, I learned that it is important for the teacher to have a great relationship with their students and for students to get along with one another. Without having a great chemistry within the class, it is hard for the teacher to teach and for students to learn. I learned that the classroom setting and atmosphere is very important to students because they can be very easily disturbed and distracted. I also learned that while planning lessons, it is good to use visuals (since visuals help catch one's attention) and I learned that it isn't always a good thing to go straight off the book. For students' learning sake, I learned that it is good to mix things up every once in awhile. The things that I learned in this course will help me greatly because I was able to understand and see things from the students' perspective. Not only did I learn that it is important to have that special bond with the students, but I also learned that in order to be a good teacher, I need to know what I am teaching and understand the material myself. I will try and incorporate the things I learned from this course into my daily teaching routine and make certain things become a natural habit. For example, trying to think of things from the students' perspective, trying to develop a natural relationship with students, and etc. I will also put into good use the fact that I can be original and not go just by the course book.
