I have learned so much during this course. This course has taught me
that teaching english as a second language to those who thirst to learn
english can be extremely rewarding, but yet so challenging. Topics such
as grammar and proper pronunciation are essential for the new english
language student to learn, but mastering this will take time. Repetition
in everything that is taught is imperative. Keeping the class entertaining,
fun, and staying on track to the lesson plan is important. One of the keys
to the success of the english language student is to always build him/her
up when even the smallest accomplishments are made. I have learned to
always challenge the students, but to not teach so far above their level
they can never comprehend. I have adopted many of the philosophies
of this course in my every day work and have found them most helpful.
I will continue to use the many skills I have acquired in this course
throughout my teaching career. From the lesson plans, to the many
fundamental games and activities, this course has enhanced, and will
continue to enhance, my skills as a new esl teacher.
