I have learnt a lot from this course, details I may not have noticed and appreciated with working in a classroom environment, for example I have been in a classroom as a student many a time and have not realised until doing this course the importance of where the teacher stands, the seating arrangements, the body language, the structure of certain lessons, the thought that goes into the lesson and the voice of the teacher to the class, how to get the class enthusiastic, it is all the detail and the work that the teacher puts into the class and some of it `behind the scenes` that students often do not realise like using equipment, and the student will just walk away thinking that lesson went well. The unit I particularly learnt from was unit 3 – methods and techniques, as this is the unit that shows the framework of many teaching methods but above all the formation of the ESA which is an invaluable working tool, incorporated with the lesson plan has the lesson organised for the teacher beforehand, and this is the method I will be using in order to give myself a systematic approach. I also learnt more about what I already knew, but in more detail and this will help me feel more confident when the time comes to teach the material. I particularly liked the unit about the course books and lesson material, this gives insight into the balance of material that teachers often use and how you can use the syllabus and other material as well as games to reach the same goal but to do it in a more interesting way. I am looking forward to teaching everything I have learnt from the course and knowing now how to teach in an enthusiast way, to make the class interesting and fun, to engage the students into lesson and to make learning something the student actually wants to do. The unit 10 video was also very interesting to see a correct and incorrect way of teaching a class, because whilst your watching the video you can put yourself in that position and imagine yourself teaching, so it is good to view before going into a classroom environment. In many of the units it gives the teacher many pointers on how and what to teach but it also gives the view point of the student so the teacher gets to think of the students perception not just teaching from the teachers point of view. All in all I now know more about vocabulary and grammar and more in depth knowledge of the tenses and looking forward to turning many of these into games to enable the student to learn english.
