Personally throughout this course I have learnt a lot. I must say that this course was very comprehensive and well structured.
In the first set of units I taught the correct foundation were properly laid. I learnt about the teachers and the learners. In this unit I was able to better understand the different levels of language and the abilities that come with each stage. I learnt further about the teacher's roles and responsibilities in the classroom.
Throughout this course I have also learnt further the intricacies and nuances involved in different areas of grammar and pronunciation. I became more aware of the phonetics and phonology of the english language. I was given practice to sharpen and strengthen my understanding of the receptive and productive skills. As a result of this course I have also been able learn about different strategies and methodologies to be employed in the classroom for effective learning to take place. I have been given the tools needed along with a wealthy of knowledge to make me into a more well rounded and competent teacher of english.
This course has helped me to learn and further rein enforce skills needed for testing and evaluating students. The theories and techniques given to teaching in this course as helped to bring a greater level of depth and effectiveness to my teaching styles and abilities.
The large amount of lesson plans given in the worksheets throughout the units have also helped in giving me meaningful practice in order to aid in the perfecting of my skills. Overall, this course was excellent and as added greater value and worth to my life as an educator.
I am planning to put everything I have learnt into practice. These new skills strategies and methodologies will be employed in the writing of my lesson plans and my overall preparation for class. I plan to also use them in the management of my classroom in order to regulate and mange the behavioural patterns of my students. I will use these methods to make my classroom learning environment more student-centered and fun. As a result of the knowledge gain from this course, I think that I now have a better command and grasp of the english Language. This will give me a new outlook on teaching and learning where I will be able to impact the lives of my learners for the better. My learners learning experience will become more meaningful and worthwhile by helping to fill their thirst and drive for knowledge and upward mobility in life. Once again an excellent course, I learnt a lot. I am now much better off for having done it.
