Travelling extensively in various Asian countries I have met several people that had at some stage been teaching english in various ways, be that a full time job, or, even more interesting, as volunteers. Many of these volunteers had so many good experiences to tell that I got interested in this. However, I only ever had nebulous ideas about going about teaching english, what this would require, or how to do it. And now, having completed this course, I have gained a very good and well-founded overview of all the important aspects that are to be taken into consideration. I now have a pretty good idea about where to start from and how to go about, with some confidence. During this course I have learnt a lot about teaching skills, ways to teach, types of materials than can be used, and where to look for them or create my own. Being a non-native speaker of english, this course also provided an excellent summary and repetition of the most important grammar points - and quite a lot I had not known or had forgotten. Again, the grammar sections of the course are starting points for looking into these things in more details. All in all the course provides a comprehensive source of material to refer back to at any time, be that during the first experiments in teaching, or further along the way. I will sort the materials from the units, grouping them into different topics, so I can add any useful material I come across in the future.
