The present tense has four forms. Each form is used to express how the verb relates to the subject. Many verbs are irregular and do not follow the rules and must be memorized by students. A good teacher will be able to identify why the student is making the mistake and avoid the problem. The best way to teach the four tenses is to incorporate them into activities to be used in the activate section of the lesson plan to give students hands on practice.
