This introduction to the grammar part of the language was refreshing. If we consider that grammar and social interaction go together, than having and understanding of the grammatical part of any language will only assist students in their goal of acquiring another language. Social interaction is sometimes view as a better way of learning a language. It was encouraging to see that this unit analyzes in detail the role grammar plays in conversation, rather than separating them.
This unit has also been a reminder of how complex a language can be. Not only from the perspective of the student but also from the point of view of the instructor. It reminds me of the many similarities that languages share. Some of these basic language resemblances around the world can be used as an advantage for the instructor.As a native spanish speaker student learning English growing up, I took advantage of the similarities in a basic sentence. Similarities like verb, adjective, nouns, adverbs, etc. were very helpful in acquiring the basic knowledge of a second language. It is also helpful if the learners have a basic grammatical understanding of their native language. ",
