Elizaveta Pachina Alumni Experiences There is no one way to teach English online, there are programs where the teacher doesn’t have to do much aside from showing up given that the lessons are pre-planned like with Qkids and VIPKid, which I’ll call company-centered programs because the company sets the curriculum. While other programs, such italki, and Palfish, rely on teacher-created lesson plans, which may be more stressful for the teacher, but ultimately are a great boon for the students they teach as the lessons can be tailored to each student, I’ll refer to them as teacher-centered programs because of that. Each has its merits and I will discuss some of them here for you now. This post was written by our TEFL certification graduate...  [Read more]

Mark Crocker TEFL Information Online English language teaching is one area of the TEFL field that has grown rapidly in recent times and it is only going to become more popular. With this growth comes an increased demand for teachers which is a very positive thing for anyone who doesn’t have a full university degree. While some online employers do insist on a degree, the two most important ingredients when applying for online teaching jobs are generally a TEFL/TESOL certification and in some cases being a native English speaker. For anyone without a degree, the best thing to do is to offer as much else to the employer as possible. As mentioned, a TEFL/TESOL certification is essential (a minimum 120-hour course is usually expected). Other sought...  [Read more]

Federico Riva TEFL Information Alumni Experiences Teaching Ideas As we talk about teaching English online (TEO), let's first look at some of the basics of teaching English in this way. So, what does TEO generally involve? Many TEO lessons are one-to-one (one teacher to one student) lessons while others are group lessons where you teach two or more students. They are typically delivered online via platforms such as Skype or Zoom or other similar platforms. Some of the larger companies may have their own internal platforms through which you teach. TEO allows you to work from anywhere in the world and take command of your own schedule most of the time, which is really what a lot of people want in today's world....  [Read more]
